Job summary

Harpswell Community School in Harpswell, Maine seeks an Elementary Special Education Teacher to join MSAD 75/RSU 75. This role designs and delivers specialized instruction for students with disabilities and collaborates with general education staff to provide access to the core curriculum.

The Teacher will lead IEP development, monitor progress, and partner with families to ensure meaningful, data-driven supports in a Least Restrictive Environment.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Maine Department of Education Teacher: Child with Disabilities certification at the time of application.
• Experience working with students with a range of disabilities.
• Mandt trained or ability to obtain required.
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, assessment methods, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum.
• Effective behavior management skills.

Responsibilities

• Promote an Inclusive Culture and equitable access to learning.
• Facilitate and manage IEP development, reevaluations, and documentation in line with IDEA and state regulations.
• Serve as case-manager for students with IEPs, ensuring data-driven services.
• Coordinate services for students with complex needs and embed life skills for independence.
• Conduct frequent assessments to monitor progress and determine effectiveness of interventions.
• Collaborate with families to involve them in educational planning.
