Job summary

Hope Learning Academy in Springfield, IL seeks an Elementary Special Education Teacher for a full-time role supporting students under IEP goals. You will plan, implement, and assess educational activities, maintain data for IEP meetings, and communicate progress to families.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois teaching license.
• Valid LBS 1 certification (or meet all requirements for short term emergency approval for LBS 1 certification).
• Ability to meet all licensing standards of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Child and Family Services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement educational activities and programs in accordance with IEP goals, ensuring educational activities are age appropriate to promote IEP goals.
• Plan daily and weekly schedules for each student.
• Collect and analyze IEP goal data and evaluate changes to IEP goals.
• Prepare assessments and present levels of performance for IEP meetings and development of goals.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate classroom lead teacher aide and education specialists.
• Maintain current classroom information book, student program books, lesson plans, student files, and emergency packets.
• Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians regarding students' progress and activities.
• Model appropriate behavior to students and staff; treat students with dignity and respect.

Salary Range: $50,000- $88,000 (commensurate on education and years of teaching experience)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Prepare assessments and present levels of performance for IEP meetings and participate in development of appropriate IEP goals for students.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate classroom lead teacher aide and education specialists.
• Maintain current classroom information book, student program books, lesson plans, student’s files, and emergency packets.
• Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians regarding students' educational progress, programs, and activities.
• Model appropriate behavior to students and staff (manner of speech, appropriate dress, etc.); treat students with dignity and respect.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Valid Illinois teaching license.
• Valid LBS 1 certification (or meet all requirements for short term emergency approval for LBS 1 certification).
• Ability to meet all licensing standards of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Child and Family Services.

WHAT WE PREFER

• 3+ years experience as a Special Education Classroom Teacher.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Good interpersonal skills.
