Job summary

Hope Learning Academy is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher for full-time work in Edwardsville, IL. You will implement IEP-aligned activities and manage schedules to promote student achievement, while maintaining detailed records and partnerships with families.

The role requires IL teaching licensure, LBS1 certification, and the ability to meet state licensing standards. A sign-on bonus is offered and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois teaching license is required.
• Valid LBS 1 certification or eligible for emergency approval.
• Ability to meet licensing standards of the relevant departments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement educational activities and programs aligned with IEP goals and age-appropriate objectives.
• Plan daily and weekly schedules for each student.
• Collect and analyze IEP goal data and adjust goals as needed.
• Prepare assessments and present levels of performance for IEP meetings.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate classroom staff and specialists.
• Maintain classroom information and student files accurately.
• Maintain regular communication with parents about progress and activities.

Salary Range: $50,000- $88,000 (commensurate on education and years of teaching experience)

Sign-On Bonus: $5,000-$10,000

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop and implement educational activities and programs in accordance with IEP goals, ensuring educational activates and programs are functional and age appropriate to promote achievement of each student’s IEP goals.
• Plan daily and weekly schedules for each student.
• Collect and analyze IEP goal data and evaluate any changes to IEP goals needed.
• Prepare assessments and present levels of performance for IEP meetings and participate in development of appropriate IEP goals for students.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate classroom lead teacher aide and education specialists.
• Maintain current classroom information book, student program books, lesson plans, student’s files, and emergency packets.
• Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians regarding students' educational progress, programs, and activities.
• Model appropriate behavior to students and staff (manner of speech, appropriate dress, etc.); treat students with dignity and respect.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Valid Illinois teaching license.
• Valid LBS 1 certification (or meet all requirements for short term emergency approval for LBS 1 certification).
• Ability to meet all licensing standards of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Child and Family Services.

WHAT WE PREFER

• 3+ years experience as a Special Education Classroom Teacher.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Good interpersonal skills.
