Job summary

Hope Learning Academy is seeking a High School Special Education Teacher to implement IEP-based programs and coordinate daily schedules for students in a full-time Springfield, IL setting.

You will collect IEP data, prepare performance levels for meetings, and contribute to goal development for students aged high school. The role requires a valid IL license, LBS1, and prior supervisory experience in a classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois teaching license.
• Valid LBS 1 certification (or meet all requirements for short term emergency approval for LBS 1 certification).
• Ability to meet all licensing standards of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Child and Family Services.
• 3+ years experience as a Special Education Classroom Teacher.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement educational activities and programs in accordance with IEP goals, ensuring educational activities and programs are functional and age appropriate to promote achievement of each student’s IEP goals.
• Plan daily and weekly schedules for each student.
• Collect and analyze IEP goal data and evaluate any changes to IEP goals needed.
• Prepare assessments and present levels of performance for IEP meetings and participate in development of appropriate IEP goals for students.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate classroom lead teacher aide and education specialists.
• Maintain current classroom information book, student program books, lesson plans, student’s files, and emergency packets.
• Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians regarding students' educational progress, programs, and activities.
• Model appropriate behavior to students and staff (manner of speech, appropriate dress, etc.); treat students with dignity and respect.

Sign-On Bonus: $5,000-$10,000
