Job Requirements
  • Indiana Special Education teaching license
Job Responsibilities
  • Create, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA and Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) regulations.
  • Provide direct instruction in early learning skills such as language, motor skills, social skills, and basic academics (letters, numbers, shapes).
  • Teach and reinforce appropriate behaviors and social skills using strategies like positive reinforcement and behavior plans.
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate different disabilities and developmental levels.
  • Assess and monitor student progress regularly, using data to adjust instruction and update IEP goals.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that supports all learners.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and on time, including case conference records, evaluation reports, progress reports, and service logs.
  • Serve as a case manager and active participant in Case Conference Committee meetings, communicating effectively with families and team members.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and administrators to support student goals and ensure services are delivered appropriately.
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers about student progress, needs, and strategies for support at home.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance records related to IEPs, services, and student performance (required under Indiana special education rules).
  • Coordinate with outside professionals (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, medical staff) to support the whole child.
  • Uphold confidentiality, adhere to Indiana special education law, and ensure all services align with federal and state regulations.
  • Committed to Professional Learning Communities for school improvement.
  • Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education and State and Federal Law.
  • Participates cooperatively with the principal in performance evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent, superintendent designee, or principal.
