Job summary

Ames Community School District Fellows Elementary is seeking Special Education Educational Associates for the 2026-2027 school year. Full-time positions are benefits-eligible.

Under the supervision of an administrator and special education teacher, you will assist the teacher in education of students, including instructional assistance, record keeping, safety, and collaboration with staff to foster a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills including word processing with Google Docs or similar tools, internet searching, and email.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in interpreting and following the teacher's directions.
• Assists students with classroom assignments during independent work time and/or workstations.
• Works with individual students or groups to reinforce learning of material or skills prepared by the teacher.
• Accompanies and assists students in integrated classes, recess, and lunch.
• Assists in collection and preparation of materials for lessons.
• Maintains student records and daily documentation.
• Supervises and enforces discipline according to supervisor's directions.
• Assists with medical, health, and behavior-related needs as instructed.
• Administers medication and first aid if identified.
