  • Starting Salary: $43,800 - $74,520+, plus a sign-on stipend of $2,000 prorated based on start date. Additional lanes may be applied based on the position.

Position Summary

The Elementary Science Teacher at HCPA instructs grades K-5, creating a flexible and supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities include teaching core subjects such as reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science, fostering a comprehensive learning experience, and motivating students to develop essential skills and attitudes for further education.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in core curriculum areas using appropriate resources and technologies.
  • Support state and district standards; implement school goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate student performance, maintain records, and report to administration.
  • Manage classroom behavior and enforce rules; support differentiated instruction.
  • Use data to inform instruction; promote a welcoming and respectful learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records via Schoology and PowerSchool; keep online resources current.
  • Engage with families through communication and events.
  • Foster social development and participate in professional development.
  • Supervise student activities, including bus, lunch, and other duties.
Accountabilities
  • Adhere to MN Teachers Code of Conduct.
  • Support school goals and foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Build effective relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respond promptly to stakeholder needs.
Engagement Activities

Participation in volunteer activities outside of school hours, such as open houses, dances, and concerts, is encouraged. Teachers are also invited to join various committees to expand their skills and community involvement.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Current MN elementary teaching license (K-6).
  • BA or MA in Teaching or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years teaching experience.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional technology skills.
  • Knowledge of literacy instruction, including structured literacy and the science of reading.
  • Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners and foster critical thinking.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with diverse urban student populations.
