Under general supervision, creates a classroom environment that is positive,safeandstudent –centered. Utilizes effective teaching strategies to advance student achievement.Usesa variety ofassessments to evaluate student learning,to shapeinstructionand provide meaningful educational experiences.Works with students and parents effectively and with care. Reports to the school Principal.
Cooperates in developing a program of continuous progress consistent with District goals andobjectivesto meet the needs, interests, and ability levels of the students.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and student-centered.
Provides supervision of students at all times,maintainsorder in theclassroomand in all other settings.
Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at thetimes designated.
Establishes clear andappropriate objectivesfor all classroom activities and communicates theseobjectivesto students and parents.
Employs a variety of instructional methods, instructional media,technologyand materials that areappropriate formeetingstatedobjectivesand capabilities of the individual students or student groups involved.
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports asrequired.
Followsthe District and School's guidanceutilizingthe selectedcurriculum.
Analyzes the progress of individual students on a regular basis and seeks appropriate assistance as needed.
Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals,objectives, and methods.
Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteers. and provides adequate plans for substitute teachers.
Seeks the cooperation andassistanceof parents through positive oral andwritten communication.Regularlyschedulesconferences,makesphone calls,sendsemails, etc.
Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational related purposes whenrequiredor requested to do so.
Maintainsaccurate, complete, and correct records as required by State or Federal law, District policies, and administrative regulations.
Takesall necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and to properly care for all property, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assistsin upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
Is punctual and responsible in performing all duties and activities as assigned.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life, and student behavior in a fair and just manner.
Participates in School or District staff development programs as assigned.
Maintains professional relationships with students and faculty, follows ethics of theteachingprofessionand promotes the welfare of students at all times.
Attends staff meetings, serves on committees asrequested, and accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular orother activities as assigned.
Interactswith others in a respectful and cooperative manner at all times.
Willinglyperformsother related duties asrequired.
ABachelor's Degreeor higher.South Carolina Teacher's Certificatewith theappropriate endorsement.Must be able to effectively teach and communicate with students,staffand parents.Mustdemonstratea passion for teaching and learning.
Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school District which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position; knowledge ofthemethodsfor developing lesson plans,selectinginstructional materialsand classroom activities which stimulateinquiry and curiosity in the learner; knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained; knowledge of proper maintenance of equipment, materials and supplies used in daily activities. Knowledge of counseling methods necessary for handlingstudent academic and behavioral problems.
Ability to provide instruction to students through explanation, demonstration and/or supervised practice; ability to supervise students and maintain order in theclassroomand all school settings; ability to operate general office equipment in the performance of daily activities;ability to prepare lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials for classroom activities; ability to identify student behavioraland/or academic problems, provide counseling and/or recommend appropriate remedial action to parents;ability to communicate effectively with students,parents, District staff, and all other groups involved in the activities of the job; strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
Classroom environment with limitedexposure to environmental conditions; physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring the lifting/moving of items weighing up to ten pounds; occasional local travel isrequired;occasional overnight travel mayberequired.
