Job description

At Centennial Elementary, our strength comes from the close-knit nature of a small neighborhood school. Located in the suburb of Richfield, we serve and teach students grades PreK through 5. With a low student-to-teacher ratio, we provide rich and individualized learning experiences for each of our students, ensuring success at all levels. We respect and value the cultural backgrounds of all our students and consider our diversity an advantage in the classroom. Centennial Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in our District.

Qualifications

You must have a master's degree in educational administration and licensure as a Minnesota elementary school principal. The ideal candidate will also have considerable teaching and administrative experience, demonstrate competence in dealing with complex problems of an administrative nature, and have knowledge of current issues and challenges impacting public education. In addition, successful candidates will have experience working in a diverse community and be passionate about advancing our equity, diversity, and inclusion work.

Pay and Benefits

  • Lead and nurture the strategic vision for the school, shape the school culture and values, formulate goals and plan change efforts with staff, and set priorities for the school in a manner that results in high student achievement, a positive school climate, and significant family and community involvement.
  • Provide meaningful opportunities for faculty and staff to continuously learn and experience success, provide feedback on performance, identify professional needs and facilitate programs that improve their overall effectiveness.
  • Participate in the development and coordination of curriculum design, instructional methods, materials, and techniques to help ensure that curriculum, instruction, and assessment functions are in alignment and implemented with fidelity.
  • Conduct classroom observations, meet with faculty regarding observations and performance, collaborate in the development of performance improvement plans when required, and recommend tenure or non-renewal for probationary faculty.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, and support of building staff to ensure a quality school team is reinforcing and sustaining a positive school climate conducive to teaching and learning.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to building staff, ensuring that staff members have the information and resources to perform their respective roles and responsibilities, and convene regular sessions to evaluate the degree to which educational programs, related services and activities are effective and efficient in meeting the overall needs of students.
  • Prepare and submit an annual operating budget covering all areas for which accountable, make revisions as required during the budget consolidation and refinement cycle, and effectively administer the budget.
  • Monitor all school building and grounds operations and take whatever initiatives may be required to ensure a safe and healthy environment inside and outside the school.
  • Develop long-range plans, establish and successfully achieve goals and make consistently sound, defensible decisions in performing all aspects of this position.
