Job summary

Zeta Charter Schools is seeking consultants to design and develop comprehensive elementary literacy curricula. You will create scope and sequence, unit and daily lesson plans, and high-quality instructional materials aligned to New York State standards.

Responsibilities include developing student-facing activities, writing prompts, assessments, and rubrics; collaborating with academic leaders and coaches; and iterating curricula based on feedback and data.

• Embed explicit literacy instruction (reading/writing/speaking/listening).

Responsibilities

• Design full-course curricula for Elementary School Literacy with scope, sequence, unit plans and daily lessons.
• Develop student-facing lessons, text-based activities, writing prompts, discussions and projects; create rubrics and assessments.
• Ensure alignment to NY State standards and Zeta's academic outcomes.
• Iterate curriculum based on educator feedback, student work and assessment data.
• Collaborate with academic leaders and coaches to ensure coherence across units.

Consultants will collaborate remotely or in-person as agreed upon based on project needs. Deliver powerful results.

Project Scope & Responsibilities

• Design full-course curricula for Elementary School Literacy, including scope and sequence, unit plans, and daily lesson plans
• Develop high-quality instructional materials, including:
  • Student-facing lessons and text-based activities
  • Writing prompts, discussion protocols, and projects
  • Assessments and rubrics aligned to grade-level standards
  • Curate and develop diverse, high-quality text sets that reflect multiple perspectives and lived experiences
• Ensure alignment to New York State standards and Zeta's academic vision and outcomes
• Embed explicit instruction in literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical analysis
• Design performance-based assessments that measure both content knowledge and transferable skills
• Collaborate with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and other curriculum writers to ensure alignment and coherence
• Iterate on curriculum based on educator feedback, student work, and assessment data

Engagement & Compensation

• Compensation: Between $15,000 and $25,000 per project unit (depending on experience and project scope)
• Consultants are responsible for their own taxes; consultants are not eligible for Zeta benefit plans.
• Work schedule is flexible; deliverables and deadlines will be agreed upon with the designated project lead.
