Job summary

Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation seeks a Maintenance/Custodial staff member for Whiteland Elementary. Responsibilities include cleaning, basic repairs and safety compliance to keep facilities ready for daily use.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and custodial experience, with the ability to work with staff, students and parents in a school environment. This is an hourly, non-exempt position based at Whiteland Elementary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is preferred.
• Experience in maintenance or custodial work is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents and visitors.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Detail-oriented and thorough in performing tasks.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and operate maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare spaces for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces.
• Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers; restock disposables.
• Wipe mirrors and windows.
• Maintain outer premises by cleaning entrances.
• Keep janitors room neat and stocked with supplies.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing switches, door handles, leaks).
• Report major damages and oversee repairs as needed.
• Secure facilities after hours by locking doors and closing windows.
• Occasionally perform custodial tasks (shoveling snow, lifting items, moving chairs).
• Follow all safety rules and report hazards to head custodian and principal.
