Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a School Counselor to assist students and families with transitions, course planning, and access to resources. You will support MTSS/RTI teams, advise on academics and career planning, and help students meet state credit requirements in collaboration with teachers and staff.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work with diverse families. Occasional travel and evening hours may be required as part of family outreach events.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Counselor Education/School Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Georgia Clearance Certificate and Georgia Service Certificate in School Counseling required.
• Strong technology skills, especially Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Highly organized and punctual with a student and family focus.
• Experience in teaching or supporting Title I schools.
• Ability to travel and occasional evening hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and families with successful transition into the program.
• Work with students with special needs, including those with 504 plans.
• Follow up with students and families to ensure they stay on track.
• Build relationships via email, phone, and in person as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve student and family issues via proper channels.
• Collaborate with school teams to access resources.
• Advise on academics, early college, and career planning.
• Assist with course selection per state credit requirements.
• Advise on dropping courses and changing schedules per policies.
• Implement programs related to interpersonal adjustment.
• Support synchronous and asynchronous instruction aligned to curriculum.
