Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a School Counselor to assist students and families with transitions, course planning, and access to resources. You will support MTSS/RTI teams, advise on academics and career planning, and help students meet state credit requirements in collaboration with teachers and staff.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work with diverse families. Occasional travel and evening hours may be required as part of family outreach events.

Qualifications

Masters degree in Counselor Education/School Counseling from an accredited institution.
Georgia Clearance Certificate and Georgia Service Certificate in School Counseling required.
Strong technology skills, especially Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Highly organized and punctual with a student and family focus.
Experience in teaching or supporting Title I schools.
Ability to travel and occasional evening hours as needed.

Job description

Assist students and families with successful transition into the program;
Work with a diversity of students with special needs, including students with section 504 plans
Follow up with students and families to ensure that they are staying on track and fulfilling the requirements of our school;
Build relationships with students and families through email, phone calls, and in person when necessary;
Proactively be able to troubleshoot and problem solve student and family issues and understand the proper channels of communication;
Work with school teams to identify and help families access school and community resources;
Advise students and families related to academics, early college and career planning
Assist students and parents with the school course selection process according to specific state credit requirements, postsecondary plans and student needs and interests;
Advise students with issues related to dropping courses and changing schedules, seeking support as needed, while ensuring that the school’s course selection and drop policies are adhered to;
Implement programs for students and families related to interpersonal adjustment issues;
Support high-quality synchronous instruction and asynchronous resources aligned to GACA curriculum and state standards.
Support differentiated Tier 1 instruction and collaborate within the MTSS/RTI model to plan and deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
Collaborate effectively with teachers and support staff to ensure all student accommodations are implemented with fidelity and aligned to individualized learning needs.
Use assessment data to support student learning needs and instruction, monitor progress, and adjust strategies to ensure growth.
Maintain deep knowledge of assigned courses and general awareness of K–12 curriculum pathways.
Build strong, positive relationships with students and families to support academic success and engagement.

Requirements

Masters Degree or higher in Counselor Education/School Counseling (from an accredited institution)
Certification: Georgia Clearance Certificate
Georgia Service Certificate in School Counseling
Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
