Qualifications

Position Summary:

Ambassador Christian Academy is seeking dependable and safety-minded individual to serve as Elementary School Bus Driver. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of elementary school students to and from school and school-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create assigned routes and bus schedule
• Operate a school bus safely along assigned routes and schedule

Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition

Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report any mechanical issues or safety concerns

Track routine maintenance needs (e.g., oil changes, tire checks, brake inspections) and notify transportation administration when service is due

Ensure the bus remains clean, fueled, and properly maintained at all times

• Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and transit
• Maintain discipline and adhere to school transportation policies
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and school staff
• Transport students for field trips and extracurricular activities and other school events as needed
• Keep accurate records related to transportation activities

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check, and drug/alcohol screening
• Strong understanding of traffic laws and school bus safety regulations
• Minimum age: 21 years
• Prior experience in student transportation or working with children preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience driving a school bus or other large commercial vehicle
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Patience and a strong sense of responsibility
