Job summary

Calvary Christian Academy is seeking a safety‑minded School Bus Driver to provide reliable transportation for students on an as‑needed basis, covering regular routes, field trips, and activities. The role emphasizes safe driving and strict adherence to schedules and school policies.

The ideal candidate will hold a Florida CDL with P and S endorsements, maintain a clean driving record, and be prepared to obtain First Aid/CPR certification if not already current.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Clean driving record with no major violations in 3–5 years.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport students safely to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and campus activities according to designated schedules and routes.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any issues immediately.
• Enforce bus safety rules, supervise students, and report serious behavioral infractions to administration.
• Follow emergency evacuation procedures and Florida DOE/FLHSMV standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized bus interior after each shift.

Position Summary

Calvary Christian Academy seeks a safety-conscious, reliable School Bus Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation for students. This position operates on an as-needed basis to cover regular routes, field trips, athletic events, and extracurricular activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Student Transportation: Transport students safely to and from school, athletic competitions, field trips, and campus activities according to designated schedules and routes.
• Vehicle Inspection & Safety: Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits) to verify operating condition. Report mechanical issues or maintenance needs immediately.
• Student Supervision: Enforce bus safety rules, maintain student discipline, and report serious behavioral infractions to school administration.
• Emergency & Compliance: Follow emergency evacuation procedures, observe all traffic laws, and adhere to Florida Department of Education (FL DOE) and Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) standards.
• Vehicle Care: Maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe bus interior following every shift.

Qualifications

• Licensure: Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A or B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Driving Record: Clean driving record with no major moving violations or convictions within the last 3 to 5 years.

Requirements

Certifications: First Aid and CPR certification preferred (or willing to obtain upon hire).

Skills: Strong communication skills, patience with children, and punctual availability on short notice.

Standard High School Diploma

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use office equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move materials up to 25 pounds.
