Job summary

St. John the Baptist Catholic School in New Freedom, PA is seeking an experienced/certified reading specialist to provide instructional support to K-6 students.

Under the supervision of the School Principal, you will assess reading and writing needs, develop remedial plans, and collaborate with teachers to implement diocesan curricula while upholding Catholic values. This is a part-time role (20 hours weekly) with strong communication to parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor's degree, preferably in elementary or special education or related field.
• Teaching certification preferred, especially with reading specialization; willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Develops assessment techniques to identify remedial reading and writing needs.
• Creates remedial reading and writing strategies and lesson plans.
• Teaches reading, writing, and mathematics at elementary level; uses technology and varied methods.
• Monitors student progress with evaluation instruments and records.
• Coordinates with staff to apply remedial teaching techniques and share progress with parents and administration.
