Job summary

Lakeville Area Schools ISD 194 seeks a full‑time K‑12 principal for Lake Marion Elementary School. The position starts 8/19/2026 and runs on a 225‑day calendar. Job description

Position Summary

The school principal is responsible for day-to-day instructional leadership and administration for all educational and operational aspects of the school. Specific duties vary between buildings depending on individual needs.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.

  • Demonstrates leadership qualities; is a strong instructional leader committed to continuous school improvement and research-based best practices; collaborative, relationship-centered leadership style; the ability to integrate technology into the educational delivery system; focus on data-driven decision making, systems thinking and commitment to expanded opportunities for stakeholder involvement.

  • Serves as instructional leader including leading curriculum, instruction, assessment and intervention best practices, leading Professional Learning Communities and the Teacher Development and Evaluation process and providing effective feedback to staff for continuous improvement.

  • Interviews candidates and makes hiring recommendations for all positions. Assigns staff to positions and provides orientation.

  • Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff in accordance with District procedures. Makes recommendations for tenure, non-renewal or dismissal.

  • Prepares and manages the budget for the school. Maintains accurate budgetary records as required by District policy and state law.

  • Prepares District, State and Federal reports as required.

  • Maintains active relationships with students, parents and staff.

  • Keeps the Superintendent and appropriate Cabinet Administrators informed of school programs and issues.

  • Interprets and enforces District policies, practices and procedures. Keeps abreast of School Board actions and proceedings.

  • Must possess or be eligible for a valid license as a K‑12 principal in the State of Minnesota.

  • Prefer experience as a principal with a demonstrated record of leadership; a strong focus on students/student achievement; commitment to school improvement initiatives; a collaborative leadership style; expanded opportunities for parent/community involvement in the school.

  • Salary and Benefits in accordance with the Lakeville Association of School Administrators (LASA) contract

  • Salary Range: $159,209 to $171,942
