Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks a temporary Elementary PE Teacher to promote an active lifestyle and culturally-responsive instruction for students. The role requires starting immediately with an expected end date around mid-December 2026, in a fast-paced environment that values teamwork and student well-being.

You will lead engaging PE lessons, support holistic student development, and collaborate with families and teachers to foster healthy habits and academic achievement across diverse learners.

Job Description

Uncommon Physical Education (PE) Teachers cultivate a passion for an active lifestyle in every student. Our PE instruction - which includes sports, team building exercises, and physical exercise - is culturally-responsive and fast paced.

We have built a community that encourages respect and hard work and celebrates students' academic and nonacademic achievements. Our goal is for students to develop into strong teammates who are interested in and knowledgeable about healthy lifestyle habits.

This Elementary PE Teacher role is a TEMPORARY POSITION. The ideal candidate would be available to start immediately, with an expected end date on/around middle of December 2026.

Required Experience

• A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).
• An expertise in high school education, physical education, sports science and management, kinesiology, physical fitness, or participation in collegiate athletics.
• Prior to the start of employment, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher by the time employment begins. You do not need to be certified to be hired; however, if hired you will need to pass state teacher certification tests to meet the MA state requirements.

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $52,000 to $68,000. Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant full-time teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Candidates without full-time Teaching experience will likely have a starting salary of $52,000.
