TITLE: Elementary Physical Education Teacher

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Certified

LOCATION: Valley Mills

The Elementary Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, standards-aligned physical education program for students in grades K–6. This role focuses on developing students’ physical literacy, promoting lifelong wellness, and fostering social-emotional skills through movement, teamwork, and structured play. The teacher creates an inclusive, engaging environment where all students can develop motor skills, fitness, and positive attitudes toward physical activity.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field
• Valid Indiana teaching license in Physical Education

Preferred:

• Experience teaching elementary-aged students (K–6)
• Knowledge of best practices in physical education and student engagement

Instruction & Curriculum

Assessment & Student Growth

• Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative measures.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.
• Use data to inform instruction and support continuous student improvement.

Classroom & Environment Management

• Establish and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
• Implement effective classroom management strategies in gymnasium and outdoor settings.
• Ensure proper use, care, and organization of equipment and facilities.

Collaboration & School Engagement

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student success.
• Participate in professional learning communities and district initiatives.
• Support school-wide events, wellness initiatives, and extracurricular activities as appropriate.

Health & Safety

• Maintain a safe physical environment and enforce safety protocols.
• Monitor student health needs and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity beyond the classroom.
