Job summary

West Virginia Department of Education is seeking an Elementary Teaching/Physical Education professional to join the district as a classroom teacher. The role involves direct instructional duties with students, adherence to WV standards, and collaboration with staff and families to support student learning.

The position requires a valid teaching certificate for the specified grade bands, background clearance, and the ability to implement district and state curricula.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2.
• Multi Subject K-8 or Elementary Education K-6.
• Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.
• Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
• Perform duties as described in the job description below.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill WV standards and district curriculum requirements.
• Uses 21st century technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
• Delivers rigorous instruction to all students.
• Plans accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Presents subject matter according to WVDE guidelines and policies.
• Assesses student learning and uses results to support school goals.
• Collaborates with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs.
• Supervises teacher aides and volunteers.
• Maintains professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Communicates effectively within the educational community.
