Job summary

Orrick Elementary is seeking a paraprofessional for the 2026-27 school year to assist teachers and support student learning in the elementary setting. The position requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, plus the ability to perform basic computer functions and follow instructions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 college hours or High School Diploma with a passing score on the ParaPro or Missouri Educator Gateway Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Perform basic computer functions
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Interest in children and education

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of schools, teachers, students, and classrooms.
• Promote a positive image of the district within the community.
• Comply with all school policies.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
• Motivate, engage, and encourage students.
• Initiate communication with certified staff on anything that would further student learning or contribute to student safety.
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.
• Assist certified staff in devising strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on student needs.
• Implementation of IEP accommodations including scribing, reading tests, coping skills, and time management.
• Implementation of Behavior Plans.
• Explain rules, procedures, and routines to students.
• Perform clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned.
• Participate in in-service trainings as approved.
• Participate in IEP meetings, as requested.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Follow and reinforce classroom procedures.
