Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years of post‑high school education; ETS exam may substitute.
• May be certified or become certified in first aid, CPR, and/or defibrillators.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse families and communities.
• Able to work with students who are emotional, distraught, or frustrated.
• Proficiency in English language use, enunciation, spelling and syntax.
• Able to organize work and set priorities for timely completion.
• Protect student confidentiality per FERPA and good judgment.
• Collaborate effectively with staff, students, parents, volunteers, and community members.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with assessment, curriculum, and student interactions.
• Implement behavior support and document progress toward education plans.
• Provide limited first aid and monitor students for medical concerns.
• Communicate with students, parents, and staff while protecting confidentiality.
• De‑escalate students and ensure safety per procedures.
• Provide tutoring in various group sizes and one‑on‑one.
• Supervise recess, bus duty, crossing, halls, and other safety duties.
• Perform clerical tasks: copies, phones, ordering materials, record keeping.
