Job summary

Dysart Unified School District Surprise Elementary - El Mirage, AZ is seeking a 26/27 SY Music teacher (SUPES) to deliver instruction in an elementary setting. The role requires an SEI endorsement for employment by DUSD and a valid Arizona teaching certificate.

The position is full time with a 1.0 FTE and a 197-day work calendar. Responsibilities include planning lessons, communicating with families, and maintaining student records in accordance with state and district policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Arizona teaching certificate.
• AZ Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

Responsibilities

• Teaches district approved curriculum.
• Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conference, etc.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
• Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
• Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
• Plans and coordinate the work of teacher aides, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
• Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
• Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student work.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
• Mantains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Other job related duties as assigned.
