Job Overview

Reporting to the Elementary School Principal, the elementary school music teacher will effectively teach music from a biblical worldview while managing a classroom and building positive relationships with students and parents. The music teacher will teach music to kindergarten through 5th-grade students.

Responsibilities

1. Effectively manage a classroom.
2. Teach all elementary school music from a biblical worldview and with excellence.
3. Create an engaging, relational, and joy-filled learning environment.
4. Provide excellence in planning, teamwork, and communication.
5. Be creative, have a strong work ethic, and think "outside the box".
6. Work in a team-centered environment.
7. Include biblical integration in all subjects.
8. Engage students in inquiry-based activities.
9. Related arts teachers will have additional responsibilities assigned by the elementary school principal.

Qualifications

• Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice, and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
• Demonstrated commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School, evidenced by their eligible children enrolled in the school.
• Bachelor's degree in elementary education.
• Experience in teaching elementary school preferred.
• Willingness to obtain ACSI certification.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to evacuate students in emergencies.
• Ability to sit, bend, and stand as needed during interactions with students.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
