Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Valid NYS Certification in Music (K–12).
• Demonstrated knowledge of music pedagogy and best instructional practices.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver standards-based music lessons for general music classes.
• Teach fundamentals: rhythm, melody, harmony, theory and notation.
• Provide instruction in singing, instrument playing, movement, and listening skills.
• Lead and organize concerts, recitals, and assemblies.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate music into cross-curricular learning.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and differentiate instruction.
• Assess student progress and maintain records of achievement.
• Communicate with students, families, and colleagues.
• Maintain and inventory instruments and equipment.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education

Master’s degree preferred

New York State Certification in Music (K–12)
