Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the classroom by ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a safe, orderly learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.

How You Will Impact Education

• Review the absent teacher’s lesson plan and schedule with the principal, supervisor, or designated teacher.
• Deliver lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Provide written reports of daily activities and any requested feedback to the building principal.
• Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.
• Consult with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson or procedure not specified in the teacher’s plans.

Student Management

• Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and assigned classrooms.
• Oversee pupil behavior during class and other school day activities as requested.
• Ensure appropriate student behavior at all times.

School/Community Relations

• Maintain good relations with district staff.
• Handle information about students and staff with utmost confidentiality.

Required Qualifications and Skills
