Responsibilities
  1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
  2. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  3. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the students' maturity and interests.
  4. Guides the learning process toward district curriculum goals, establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  5. Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  6. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to the physical location and student needs.
  7. Implements the district's educational philosophy, goals, and performance expectations.
  8. Regularly assesses student accomplishments, provides progress reports, and communicates with parents as needed.
  9. Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  10. Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist assistance when necessary.
  11. Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
  12. Follows the district's code of conduct and develops fair classroom behavior rules.
  13. Supervises paraprofessionals and conducts evaluations as required.
  14. Engages in ongoing professional growth to meet district and personal goals.
  15. Participates actively in the teacher evaluation process.
  16. Attends district and building meetings to promote communication.
  17. Participates in school-sponsored activities as agreed upon.
  18. Contributes to district decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and staff well-being.
  19. Maintains and strives to improve professional competence.
Qualifications
  1. Highly qualified with competency in mathematics content area.
  2. Appropriate educator license in Mathematics and grade 1-6 from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  3. Bachelor's Degree with license, or Master's Degree with preferred content area license within 5 years.
