Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the students' maturity and interests.
- Guides the learning process toward district curriculum goals, establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to the physical location and student needs.
- Implements the district's educational philosophy, goals, and performance expectations.
- Regularly assesses student accomplishments, provides progress reports, and communicates with parents as needed.
- Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
- Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist assistance when necessary.
- Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Follows the district's code of conduct and develops fair classroom behavior rules.
- Supervises paraprofessionals and conducts evaluations as required.
- Engages in ongoing professional growth to meet district and personal goals.
- Participates actively in the teacher evaluation process.
- Attends district and building meetings to promote communication.
- Participates in school-sponsored activities as agreed upon.
- Contributes to district decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and staff well-being.
- Maintains and strives to improve professional competence.
Qualifications
- Highly qualified with competency in mathematics content area.
- Appropriate educator license in Mathematics and grade 1-6 from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor's Degree with license, or Master's Degree with preferred content area license within 5 years.
