Qualifications

• Certification/License: NJ State Certification as an Elementary Teacher
• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from an accredited college or university
• Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is a plus

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates plans into learning experiences.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods for individual needs.
• Instructs students in citizenship and subjects per laws and district regulations.
• Attends seminars, workshops or meetings to stay current in education.
• Maintains accurate records of grading and attendance per district procedures.
• Encourages parental involvement and communicates progress with students and parents.
• Coordinates with grade-level staff to evaluate curriculum and participates in meetings.
• Selects and requisitions books and supplies and maintains inventory records.
• Supervises students during activities outside the classroom and during transportation.
