Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience with children preferred; ability to communicate with children and adults.
• Ability to follow simple instructions, orally or written.
• Preferred: Recreation background; knowledge of peer mediation and conflict resolution; knowledge of First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Maintain discipline by enforcing safety rules in lunchroom, playground, and activity room.
• Assist younger students with opening cartons, wrappers, etc., when needed.
• Be aware of situations in lunchroom or playground and defuse them before they escalate.
• Exercise a fair but consistent manner when interacting with students.
• Maintain good relationships with teachers by informing them of problems involving their students.
• Practice guidelines and protocols per building.
• Actively supervise students; move throughout the area and perform tasks requiring mobility.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
