Job description

Air Education Inc. (Air Reading) delivers evidence-based, small-group online reading instruction to elementary students. Grounded in the Science of Reading, the program partners with schools to accelerate student literacy development and provides teachers with structured curriculum, coaching, and professional development. Independent evaluations have demonstrated measurable student gains and the program holds an ESSA Tier 1 evidence rating.

Position summary
  • Employment type: Contract, remote (must be located in and authorized to work in the United States).
  • Location: Remote within the United States, excluding California.
  • Schedule: Flexible teaching opportunities Monday-Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
  • Compensation: Up to $24/hour.
  • Session length: Typically 30-40 minutes per small-group lesson.
Key responsibilities
  • Deliver structured, engaging online reading lessons via Zoom to groups of up to four elementary students, following the provided step-by-step curriculum.
  • Maintain instructional fidelity to structured literacy and Science of Reading approaches.
  • Monitor and document student progress using established assessment and reporting tools; provide timely, actionable feedback to students and partners.
  • Create and sustain a positive, orderly virtual learning environment that supports student engagement and growth.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Proficiency with Zoom and common digital teaching tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to connect effectively with elementary-aged students.
Preferred Qualifications (not Required)
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Degree or coursework in education, literacy, English, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching early reading, phonics, or K-3 instruction and familiarity with structured literacy methods.
