Elementary Interrelated Special Education Teacher

Reports To

Director, Harvey County Special Education Cooperative; Building Administrator

Job Goal

To provide each identified student with tailored help, counseling, and learning experiences to progress toward educational goals.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement individualized educational programs for students with disabilities.
  • Identify learning problems, skill deficiencies, or social adjustment difficulties, and initiate remediation programs.
  • Develop and maintain individual education plans according to Kansas regulations and district policies.
  • Evaluate students' needs and progress.
  • Prepare progress reports and evaluations, administering pre-tests and post-tests as needed.
  • Provide teaching materials and equipment.
  • Counsel students in academic and social issues.
  • Establish and maintain behavior standards.
  • Work with teachers and parents to support student progress and understand program goals.
  • Participate in case conferences regarding students' abilities and needs.
  • Perform record-keeping functions related to the program.
  • Stay informed about developments in the field through professional reading and conferences.
  • Develop transition plans for students aged 14 and older.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
