Job summary

Wabash Valley Online Application Consortium seeks an Elementary Instructional Assistant to support teachers in delivering high-quality literacy-focused instruction in a busy elementary setting.

You will work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning, assist with classroom management, and help prepare instructional materials while monitoring progress and communicating observations to the teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
• Understanding of evidence-based literacy practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom teachers in delivering instruction.
• Work with small groups or individuals to reinforce learning.
• Assist with classroom management and behavior support.
• Prepare instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Monitor student progress and share observations with the teacher.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Assist with technology use, reading interventions, and academic support programs.
• Support students with individualized needs, including accommodations in IEPs, ILPs, and 504 plans.
• Contribute to the implementation of the Science of Reading framework in literacy support.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.
