San Diego Hebrew Day School is seeking a warm, skilled Elementary Hebrew Teacher & Israel Education Associate to join our Orthodox Jewish day school community.

In this full-time role, you will teach Hebrew to 2nd–4th graders, assist the Middle School Hebrew teacher for two periods per day, and support Israel Education programming, fostering a joyful, structured classroom where students build fluency and connection to Hebrew and Israel.

Qualifications

• Strong Hebrew language skills; native or near-native fluency preferred.
• Experience teaching in elementary school or Jewish day school setting.
• Ability to create engaging, organized, student-centered lessons.
• Warmth, patience, flexibility, and strong classroom management.
• Commitment to the mission and values of an Orthodox Jewish day school.

Responsibilities

• Teach Hebrew language classes to students in grades 2-4.
• Develop students' Hebrew vocabulary, reading, comprehension, speaking, and writing skills.
• Create engaging and developmentally appropriate Hebrew lessons.
• Build a positive classroom culture rooted in warmth, structure, respect, and high expectations.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a range of learners.
• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen Hebrew language learning across grade levels.
• Assist the Middle School Hebrew teacher for two periods per day.
• Support Israel Education programming, including special events, schoolwide programs, holiday programming, and Israel-related initiatives.
• Help students build a meaningful and age-appropriate connection to Hebrew language, Medinat Yisrael, and Am Yisrael.
• Communicate professionally and thoughtfully with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and schoolwide events as appropriate.
