Job summary

San Diego Hebrew Day School seeks an enthusiastic Elementary Hebrew Teacher & Israel Education Associate to lead Hebrew language instruction for grades 2–4 and support Israel Education programming across the school year.

The role combines lead teaching in the elementary division, assistant teaching in the middle school, and collaboration with families and colleagues to foster Hebrew language growth and a joyful learning environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Hebrew language skills; native or near-native fluency preferred.
• Prior teaching experience in an elementary or Jewish day school setting.
• Ability to create engaging, organized, student-centered lessons.
• Warmth, patience, flexibility, and strong classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Teach Hebrew language to students in grades 2–4.
• Develop students’ Hebrew vocabulary, reading, comprehension, speaking, and writing skills.
• Create engaging and developmentally appropriate Hebrew lessons.
• Build a positive classroom culture rooted in warmth, structure, respect, and high expectations.
• Differentiate instruction to meet a range of learners.
• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen Hebrew language learning across grade levels.
• Assist the Middle School Hebrew teacher for two periods per day.
• Support Israel Education programming and related events.
• Help students build a meaningful connection to Hebrew language and Israel.
• Communicate professionally with students, colleagues, and families.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
