Qualifications

• Valid State of Iowa Teacher Certification with proper endorsement or ability to obtain temporary certification.

Responsibilities

• Help students overcome problems that impede learning and assist them in adjusting to school life regardless of sex, culture or ethnic background.
• Interpret the school's objectives to students, parents and the community, especially the guidance and counseling program.
• Work with the faculty to aid at-risk students.
• Counsel individuals or small groups on personal problems related to home, family, health and emotional adjustment.
• Confer with parents when necessary and participate in faculty committees and student activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and records; act as a liaison with outside agencies related to students.
• Serve as Drug Free Schools Coordinator and arrange for tutors and summer school work.
