Job summary

Leander ISD in Texas seeks a gifted program teacher to identify students for gifted services and to deliver a comprehensive curriculum aligned to identified student needs. You will plan and implement lessons, monitor progress and maintain records in accordance with district policies.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements, and GT-trained certification or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.
• 30 Hrs GT-Trained/Certificate/Endorsement/Masters in Gifted Education.
• Student teaching, internship, fieldwork, observation and all placements required by universities or state programs.

Responsibilities

• Assess students for identification into the gifted program following testing procedures.
• Provide training for teachers, parents and administrators in gifted education issues.
• Instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
• Plan a program of study meeting individual needs of gifted students.
• Create a conducive classroom environment for learning and appropriate to students' maturity.
