Job summary

School District 27J is seeking a School Based Support role (Secretary, Para, Custodian/Head Custodian) at Brantner Elementary School. The position includes supervising up to 5 custodial staff, providing training, and ensuring daily cleaning and maintenance of the building.

The role starts at $23.20 per hour on a 12-month schedule, with benefits eligibility. Requires safety certifications within 6–12 months, and ability to lift heavy loads. Closing date 10/21/2026.

Qualifications

• First Aid and CPR certifications, and safety certification required within 6 months after hire.
• OSHA training, HazMat licensing, and BOCES training required within 1 year after hire.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
• Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
• Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises up to 5 employees at the assigned school.
• Instruct and train new crewmembers on cleaning and building management techniques; maintain time and activity records.
• Oversee staff work; address discipline issues and report to Principal or supervisor.
• Vacuum and sweep designated areas.
• Dust mop and wet mop using power equipment including wet and dry cleaners.
• Remove and dispose of trash from all receptacles.
• Clean furniture, chalkboards, white boards, trays, surfaces, windows and sills.
• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect bathrooms.
• Monitor hallways for cleaning needs or hazards and for student behavior during events.
• Repair facilities including walls, stalls, desks; replace and clean lightbulbs.
• Perform general security tasks: turn lights on/off, secure the building at start/end of day.
• Inventory, store and order cleaning supplies within district guidelines.
• Set up furniture and equipment for events and secure building after events.
• Inspect playgrounds for hazards and report needs.
