Job Description
REPORTS TO: CPC Head of School
SUPERVISES: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants.
PURPOSE: Plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management of Instructional Time: Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment before each lesson; start the class quickly; maintain high student time‑on‑task.
- Management of Student Behavior: Establish and enforce rules for participation, movement, and transitions; monitor behavior in all instructional activities; address inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining student dignity.
- Instructional Presentation: Review prior materials, introduce objectives, and deliver lessons using clear language and relevant examples; adjust pacing; facilitate smooth transitions; summarize key points.
- Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Set clear standards and due dates; circulate to check student progress; use oral, written, and other products to assess understanding.
- Instructional Feedback: Provide timely correction and reinforcement; confirm correct responses; offer probing or cues for incorrect responses.
- Facilitating Instruction: Align instructional plans with curriculum goals and assessment data; maintain accurate records; utilize available resources effectively.
- Interaction within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly; collaborate with students, co‑workers, parents, and the community.
- Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Execute assigned duties; adhere to laws, policies, and regulations; pursue professional development.
- Additional Job Functions: Perform other related work as required.
Training and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university; full educational license preferred.
Qualifications and Standards
Physical Requirements: Use a variety of classroom equipment and tools; lift, carry, or move objects with negligible force; light work load consistent with standing and walking duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Monitor student safety and well‑being, especially during inclusive activities.
- Motivate students and maintain a clean, orderly environment.
- Perform general clerical duties and maintain basic files and records.
- Follow oral and written instructions and establish effective working relationships.
- Operate common office machines.
