Job summary

Elementary is seeking an ELC/Elementary Teacher Assistant (Temporary) at the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin to support the instructional needs of deaf and hard of hearing students. This entry-level role assists in designing materials and activities, monitors students, and collaborates with the assigned Teacher(s) under supervision.

The position runs for two school years (2026-2027 and 2027-2028), with 40 hours per week and 189 days of service.

Qualifications

Evidence of instructional knowledge and the ability to support learning in a classroom setting.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
Ability to plan and organize tasks, monitor progress, and document outcomes.
Commitment to safety, confidentiality, and respectful conduct in the school environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering instruction for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Prepare age-appropriate instructional materials and learning activities.
Monitor students inside and outside the classroom and provide supervision as needed.
Support students with personal care and mobility needs in accordance with their abilities.
Maintain orderly instructional spaces and collaborate with teachers to promote equitable outcomes.
