Job summary

Jones Elementary is seeking a dedicated Counselor to support the emotional, social, and academic development of elementary students. This full-time role focuses on creating a positive school environment and promoting mental well-being among young learners.

You will provide individual and group counseling, collaborate with teachers and families, conduct assessments, and lead programs on resilience and stress management.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
• Experience with elementary-aged children in counseling or educational settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Knowledge of child development and mental health issues.
• Ability to manage a caseload and work both independently and in a team.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, social, and emotional challenges.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to identify students in need and develop intervention strategies.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate students' needs and progress.
• Facilitate workshops on conflict resolution, self-esteem, and stress management.
• Develop and implement school-wide initiatives to promote mental health awareness.
• Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress with confidentiality.
• Participate in school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and community outreach.
• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families.
• Advocate for the needs of students and promote a safe and inclusive school environment.
