Job summary

Wichita Public Schools invites applications for the position of Qualified Behavior Interventionist (Elementary) for the 2026-2027 school year. The role provides direct and indirect support to administrators, teachers, students and families to coordinate daily behavior regulation, relationship building and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Background knowledge and experience in teaching students.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Familiar with District standards and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provides behavioral leadership and staff development focused on evidence-based behavioral practices.
• Modeling of evidence-based behavior supports while working directly with students.
• Coaching, consulting and collaborating with staff and building administrators on evidence-based positive behavior supports.
• Assists in identifying, acquiring and organizing available resources for students and staff.
• Collects, analyzes, and utilizes behavioral data to identify and implement strategies to drive positive behavioral changes.
• Collaborates with Child Study Team Members and classroom teachers as part of the Individual Problem-Solving Process.
• Identifies behavioral escalation and implements effective de-escalation strategies.
• Seeks to minimize student exclusionary discipline by identifying students with high behavioral needs and providing targeted interventions.
• Monitors staff fidelity to Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Observes staff implementing interventions for procedural accuracy.
• Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
