Job summary

Waterloo Community School District Highland - Waterloo, IA is seeking an Behavior Intervention Specialist (Behavior Focus) - Elementary to support instruction for students with behavior challenges under the supervision of the principal and director of special education.

The role requires de-escalation, behavior management, and collaboration with teachers, families, and staff. Starting date is immediate; certification and compliance prerequisites apply.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
NCLB compliance with 60 college credits or para educator license.
Mandt certification required upon hire.
Experience with behavior challenges and students with special needs.

Responsibilities

Assist in providing instruction to behaviorally challenged students or groups as directed.
Administer one-to-one intensive behavior intervention.
Collect data and maintain behavioral charting data.
Monitor and report student behavior per approved procedures.
Support PBIS initiatives and de-escalation efforts.
Assist with IEP/504/504 plans as needed.
