Job summary

The Kansas City School District is seeking an Elementary Baseball Coach to lead practices and competitions across multiple sites in Kansas City, Missouri. Responsibilities include coordinating sport with MSHSAA standards, assisting in program logistics, supervising students, arranging transportation, and continuing professional growth through clinics

Responsibilities

• Provide information for transportation, facilities, officials and game management
• Plan and schedule practice sessions to maximize athlete potential
• Prioritize safety and up-to-date training and injury management
• Model high standards of sportsmanship during practices and games
• Ensure return of school equipment per KCMSD handbook
• Pursue ongoing professional growth through clinics and publications
• Complete MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles and Sports First Aid Courses
• Fulfill 8 hours of PD: district mtgs 4hrs; school mtgs 3hrs; clinics 1hr

Job Title: Elementary Baseball Coach

Salary Grade: $1,000/season

Department: Athletics

Locations: Pitcher, James, Garcia, Banneker, Whittier, Trailwoods, ACCPA, Faxon, FLA

Reports To: Athletic Director/ Building Principal

Position Summary:

Provide leadership for the school's athletic program through the continuous development, implementation, and enhancement of the sport(s) assigned, while promoting student‑athlete growth, program excellence, and alignment with district goals and expectations.

What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)

• Coordinate specific sport with a full team in compliance with MSHSAA standards.
• Assist in implementing athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all MSHSAA required sessions.
• Assist in the coordination of the program.
• Assist in the supervision of students at practices and contests.
• Help provide information for transportation, facilities, officials and game management.
• Help organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the objective of developing the student‑athlete’s greatest potential.
• Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of the best training and injury management procedures.
• Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
• Assist in getting the systematic return of all school equipment in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook.
• Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
• Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
• Must fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development.:
  • District level mtgs –4hrs;
  • School level mtgs - 3hrs;
  • Outside mtgs/Clinics –1hr

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-athletes

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)

• Knowledge of particular sport (philosophy & coaching)
• Must successfully complete the MSHSAA /NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
• A strong commitment to the student‑athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility center regulations.
