Job summary

Norristown Area School District HANCOCK in Norristown, PA seeks an Elementary Autistic Support Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Starting date is immediate, with a 7.5-hour workday, Monday through Friday, in a full-time role.

Salary follows the 2026-2027 schedule with varying steps by degree; sign-on details and stipends are offered for new district employees and special education qualifications. DOE FBI clearance and related certifications are required.

Qualifications

• PA Certification in Elementary Special Education.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people.
• Must be cooperative, congenial, and self-motivated.
• Ability to complete tasks and run a classroom with minimal supervision.
• Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.

Responsibilities

• Provide an appropriate program of education and training for the students.
• Utilize the abilities, skills and talents of all members of the team to the fullest in educating the students.
• Prepare lesson plans in accord with the students' IEPs.
• Develop, write, and implement IEPs.
• Administer individual diagnostic tests to assess the students' educational achievement.
• Provide classroom management based on principles of child development and behavior modification techniques.
• Progress monitor goals and report student progress reports to parents.
• Work effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Develop professional relationships and a supportive climate which facilitates inclusion of the special education student.
• Experience with ABA techniques preferred.
• Conduct, write, and implement FBAs and PBSPs.
• Work collaboratively with consultants from PaTTAN through the Autism Initiative.
• Assume additional duties as assigned by the program supervisor.
