Falmouth Elementary School seeks a dynamic and innovative art teacher for grades PreK-2 who builds positive and caring relationships with children, inspires and supports them in their learning, and works collaboratively with colleagues on their behalf. The art teacher will inspire students to use creative expression, be collaborative learners who feel safe to take risks and practice a growth mindset. This position requires strong knowledge of classroom management, art concepts that are aligned to the PreK and K-5 standards, and creating engaging art lessons or projects. The focus concepts and skills will include but are not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, and art history.

  • Helping students to develop the ability to express themselves through their artwork and understand that everyone does that uniquely
  • Planning and providing age appropriate instruction so that students develop aesthetic concepts, techniques and appreciations about art
  • Understanding and empowering the whole child, including designing for learning in ways that connect, include, and create equity for each and every child
  • Differentiating learning to support all learners
  • Maximizing student engagement in learning through classroom management, knowledge of standards and art techniques, effective pacing and harnessing student voice and choice
  • Communicating effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Sharing and co-creating as a positive and collaborative team player
  • Implementing positive behavior interventions and supports, as well as social emotional learning
  • Planning and presenting student art displays for the school and the community
  • Organizing work and storage areas and control use of materials, equipment, and tools

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Preference will be given to teachers who have experience teaching at the elementary level (early elementary preferred)

Minimum Education Requirements: State Certification (620) and B.S. in Art Education (K-12)

Approved CRC (Criminal Records Check) and background check (will be run by the school department).

Pay commensurate with education and experience. A generous and comprehensive benefits package is included (100% district paid single health and dental), as well as on-site child care for staff (depending on availability).
