Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking a classroom teacher to deliver instruction, plan curricula, and foster a positive learning environment at the designated locations and times.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and an Illinois Professional Educator Licensure, plus eighteen hours in the major teaching area. Salary is based on experience and education per the district contract.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education required.
  • Type 3/09/10 Illinois Professional Educator Licensure valid for teaching assignment.
  • Minimum 18 hours in the major teaching area.
  • Alternative qualifications considered by the Board.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Plan a program of study meeting student needs and abilities.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate for students.
  • Prepare for classes and document preparation when requested.
  • Encourage appropriate classroom behavior and maintain order.
  • Guide learning toward curriculum goals and standards.
  • Use varied instructional techniques and media.
  • Implement district education goals in practice.
  • Assess student progress and provide progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Enforce policies governing student life and conduct.
  • Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
  • Maintain professional competence; attend staff meetings and committees.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Education
Illinois PEL licensure
18 hours in major teaching area
Alternative qualifications acceptable

Job description

1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. 2. Plans a program of study, which meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. 3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 4. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior. 5. Encourages students to set and maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior. 6. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. 7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, Consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 8. Implements by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 9. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 10. Seeks the assistance of district specialists as required. 11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 12. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records.

13. Implements all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. 14. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day. 15. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. 16. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Qualifications
  • 1. Type 3, 09, 10 or other Illinois PEL – Professional Educator Licensure valid for the teaching assignment
  • 2. Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • 3. Eighteen (18) hours minimum in the area of major teaching assignment
  • 4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
