POSITION: Elementary and Middle School Physical Education Teacher (Full Time)

SCHOOL YEAR: 2025/2026

REPORTS TO: Head of Upper and Lower School

MISSION STATEMENT

Duties And Responsibilities

• Plan and teach general physical education classes ranging in grades K-5.
• Coach middle-level athletics in Grades 6-8 in our primary sports program.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement an engaging physical education curriculum utilizing innovative instructional practices that reflect current child development.
• Construct engaging, inclusive lessons that meet the needs of various learning styles and athletic abilities, offering exposure to a broad range of physical fitness, games, and competitive sports skills.
• Foster an environment that ensures the safety and well-being of students and promotes collaboration and teamwork.
• Regularly assess students’ progress by observing and evaluating performance and development of skills and provide appropriate and timely feedback to students and families.
• Demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to professional growth as a physical education teacher and coach.
• Participate collaboratively and professionally with our Athletic Directors and other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the school community in a manner that supports and promotes the Mission and Core Values of Valley School.
• Attend faculty meetings and fulfill other faculty obligations.
• Participate in the life of the school, including scheduled extra duties, school-related conferences, training, committee work, and where possible, attending after-hours events that reflect a commitment to the success of the school and the development of the whole child.
  
  

Education And Experience

• Teaching Certification in Health and Physical Education or a related field preferred
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
• Demonstrated teaching experience in a PE/Health classroom setting
• Exhibits effective written and oral communication skills
• Passion for working and engaging with energetic Elementary and Middle School students
