Job summary

Roosevelt Elementary in Weber School District seeks an Elementary Aide to support teachers in reading and math interventions, supervision during lunch/recess, and classroom activities. The role requires collaboration with principals, teachers, and special education staff to assist with instructional materials and student supervision.

The position is part-time (180 days calendar) with 4.5 hours per day (22.5 hours/week).

Qualifications

• Experience supporting elementary students in reading and math interventions.
• Ability to tutor students individually or in small groups under the teacher.
• Experience assisting with classroom activities and materials.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
• Assists in the instruction of students and other classroom activities as needed.
• May tutor students individually or in small groups under the direction of the teacher.
• Assists with physical and emotional maintenance of students with disabilities including assessing curriculum and participating in school or classroom activities.
• Assist students needing supplemental help with various school subjects and programs.
• Assist in the administration of a variety of tests and monitor students’ academic progress.
• Keeps accurate data on assigned students or groups of students.
• Supports a school environment that helps students develop and maintain a positive self-concept.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a positive and focused learning environment.
• Maintains professional confidentiality regarding student information.
• Maintains effective and positive communication with students, teachers, parents, patrons and administration.
• Positive interaction with students, teachers, social workers, psychologists, support personnel and administrators.
• Assists in school events at the direction of the principal
• Requires ability to work effectively with staff and students
• Requires ability to exercise emotional control in difficult situations.
• Requires ability to solve a variety of problems relating to individual student needs and behaviors.
• Requires knowledge of and assistance for the safety and security of students assigned to the classroom
• Effectively implements interventions and strategies as outlined in IEPs or other plans.
• Collects behavior data and provides reports and/or graphs of the data
• Provides feedback about specific student needs.
• May assist in on-the-job training to other paraeducators as appropriate.
• Responds to critical situations in a variety of locations on a temporary basis.
• Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to work independently and problem solve.
• During emergencies, may be required to perform additional duties.
