Job summary

Manhattan Youth is seeking several part-time After-school Counselors to join our Elementary School (K-5) team for the 2026-2027 academic year. We offer a diverse range of programs including sports, STEM, arts, leadership, and community service.

As a Counselor, you will work with Activity Specialists to engage students and foster creativity, communication, independence, confidence, and conflict‑resolution skills. These roles run 2:00-6:00pm, Monday through Friday, following NYC DOE schedule.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of after-school, camp or classroom experience or pursuing an education-related degree.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to express ideas clearly.
• Team player with initiative and positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn and take responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Greet students, take attendance and supervise during transitions.
• Assist students in recreational and/or sports activities.
• With Activity Specialist, prepare activities and materials for daily schedule.
• Maintain open communication with Site Director and staff.
• Ensure safety of students during all activities and address emergencies.
• Participate in professional development and work toward leading classes independently.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
