Job summary

Kansas City Christian School is seeking an After School Care Associate to supervise students in grades 1 through 6 after the school day ends. The role focuses on a safe, structured environment where students complete homework, engage in physical activity, and enjoy creative play within the school’s Christian mission.

The position requires a high school diploma and a heart for working with children. Prior experience in school or childcare is preferred, and CPR/First Aid certification is helpful

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; degree or coursework in education/child development preferred.
• Prior experience with elementary children in school, childcare, or camp settings preferred.
• Genuine Christian faith and ability to model it for students.
• Strong communication with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to manage groups of kids with patience, warmth and firm boundaries.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain on hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in grades 1–6 during after school care hours, ensuring safety at all times.
• Support a structured routine: homework, physical activity, and creative play.
• Build positive, Christian relationships reflecting care and character.
• Assist with homework and academic tasks as needed.
• Lead or assist with age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities.
• Manage check-in/check-out and verify authorized pickups; maintain attendance records.
• Communicate with parents regarding the child's day and concerns.
